What to expect in this episode
A feelings-vocabulary book: happy, brave, mad, calm, broken, sad, hopeful, afraid, silly, shy — each named and normalized, including "mean words hurt" and a mad heart that "feels like it's going to explode," all framed safely.
The moral: Every feeling is okay — hearts hold all of them, and naming them helps.
Keep it going — ask your kid:
- How does your heart feel right now?
- What does your heart do when it's mad?
- What fixes your heart when it feels broken?
From our own listen-through of this episode. Asking a question or two after a story is "dialogic reading" — one of the best-evidenced boosts to early language. More on how we review everything in Parent Corner.
