Wacky Wednesday - Caps for Sale
Mischievous monkey laughs · Released July 15, 2026 · 7:29
A classic, participatory story about a frustrated peddler and a troupe of mischievous monkeys. The stamping, shaking, and repetition give kids plenty of safe ways to join the fun.

What to expect in this episode
The 1940 classic: monkeys swipe a napping peddler's caps and copy his every move. The peddler gets progressively, theatrically angry — finger-shaking, foot-stamping — before accidentally discovering the solution. Good mild anger-modeling with a funny payoff.
The moral: Getting madder doesn't get your caps back — sometimes stepping back does.
Keep it going — ask your kid:
- How would YOU get the caps back from the monkeys?
- What did the monkeys do every single time the peddler got mad?
- What helps you when you're really, really frustrated?
From our own listen-through of this episode. Asking a question or two after a story is "dialogic reading" — one of the best-evidenced boosts to early language. More on how we review everything in Parent Corner.
