What the cast said

Welcome back to StoryBeam. The daily podcast where imagination shines bright. I'm Kat.

I'm Allison. Happy Wacky Wednesday everyone!

It is time for some high-flying wacky Wednesday fun.

Today our StoryBeam is shining a light on scales, tales, and silly classroom rules

as we read When You Go to Dragon School by Chelsea M. Campbell.

Dragon school is not like human school. You need to learn how to fly, roar, and breathe fire.

From roaring during circle time to accidentally singeing your homework,

going to school with little dragons is packed with wild surprises.

Let's jump in and see what happens on the first day of dragon class.

Let's get our ears on.

I've got mine. Ready?

Three, two, one. Let's read!

Here the cast reads When You Go to Dragon School by Chelsea M. Campbell. The book's own words stay with its author and publisher, so that part of the recording is not written out. Press play to hear it.

Imagine trying to turn in your homework after a dragon accidentally toasted it.

I love how wacky dragon school can be.

Co-host, if you were a dragon at dragon school,

what silly trick would you show off at recess?

I think I would start jumping off the slide.

And I would start to do the crazy dance on top of the stairs.

One foot would be on the stair,

and one foot would be bouncing on the down stair,

one foot would be bouncing on the top stair,

and my hands would be flanging.

Also, I would draw a picture up in the clouds

and it would look super ridiculous and crazy.

I think you would make the coolest dragon on the playground.

Grown-ups, if your little monsters love today's fiery classroom adventure,

our StoryBeam suggestion for your library bag is

Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin.

It's a hilarious modern classic full of dragon antics and spicy salsa surprises.

Have a wonderfully wacky Wednesday, everyone,

and we will see you tomorrow morning for Throwback Thursday.

And don't forget,

keep on reading.

Bye.

After the story

Kat and Allison talk about fitting in somewhere you look different, and the things you can bring that nobody else can. Ask before and after the story, and let the wackiest answer win.

If you were a dragon at dragon school, what silly trick would you show off at recess?

What is one thing you can do that would make a whole class of dragons glad you came?

Everyone brushes their teeth, dragon or human. What else do you think dragons and kids both do?
