What the cast said

Welcome back to StoryBeam, the daily podcast where imagination shines bright.

I'm Kat.

I'm Allison.

Happy Saturday Splash!

It is time for our Saturday Splash, where we leap into a big weekend full of wonder.

Today our StoryBeam is shining a brilliant light on our home, the Earth, as we read

A Planet Like Ours by Frank Murphy and Charnaie Gordon.

It's about loving and appreciating our Earth, and it's about taking care of it.

That's right!

From towering mountains and vast oceans to the air we breathe and the animals we share

it with, this story reminds us that Earth is precious.

Let's explore all the amazing ways we can be caretakers of our world.

Let's get our ears on.

I've got mine ready!

Three, two, one!

Let's read!

Here the cast reads A Planet Like Ours by Frank Murphy and Charnaie Gordon. The book's own words stay with its author and publisher, so that part of the recording is not written out. Press play to hear it.

Wow, what a beautiful reminder for our weekend.

Our planet gives us so much and taking care of it starts with small everyday choices.

Co-host, what is your favorite thing to do outside on this wonderful planet of ours?

Hmm, I think making fairy gardens I would use some sticks, leaves and I would have this plastic bottle.

I would turn into a toy and I would scoop some sand into it.

And then I would pour it and then I would mix it with a stick and then I would make this little hole.

And then I would put all the stuff I want in there.

Wow, those are two of the best ways to celebrate nature.

I love fairy gardens.

Grown-ups, if today's green-hearted message inspired your family,

After the story

The cast's point is that caring for the planet starts with small everyday choices. Pick one for the weekend and do it together.

What is your favorite thing to do outside on this wonderful planet of ours?

The book asks, if not us, then who? What is one small thing your family can do for the Earth this week?

Which do you notice most on a walk: the soil, the water, the animals, the trees, or the air?
