What the cast said

Welcome back to StoryBeam, the daily podcast where imagination shines bright.

I'm Kat.

I'm Allison. Happy Monday Magic, friends!

It is time to start a brand new week with Monday Magic.

Today our StoryBeam is shining a light on having the soul of an eagle, even if you

look a little more like a penguin.

We are reading Flight School by Lita Judge.

Penguins aren't supposed to fly, but this little penguin has a big dream.

He sure does.

He might not have the right feathers for soaring, but with a lot of determination and some great

friends, he finds a way to take to the sky.

Let's see how penguin earns his wings today.

Let's get our ears on.

I've got mine.

Ready?

Three, two, one, let's read!

Here the cast reads Flight School by Lita Judge. The book's own words stay with its author and publisher, so that part of the recording is not written out. Press play to hear it.

I just love Penguin's big heart.

He didn't let a little thing like gravity stop him from chasing his dreams.

Co-host, if you could strap on Flamingos and fly anywhere today, where would you zoom off to?

Hmm... Unicorn Land!

Ooh, that sounds like an incredible flight plan.

We just have to first find it.

What do you think?

Yeah, because I have never heard of Unicorn Land though.

Grown-ups, if today's lesson and persistence inspired your little dreamers, our StoryBeam

suggestion for your library bag is Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall.

It's a wonderful, encouraging story about a boy overcoming his fears to make a big splash

at the pool.

Keep reaching for the sky today!

You can do anything you put your mind to.

Have a magical Monday, families, and we will see you tomorrow morning for Tuesday Treasures.

And don't forget, keep on reading!

Bye!

After the story

Kat's read: Penguin did not let a little thing like gravity stop him. Ask what your family is determined to learn.

If you could fly anywhere today, where would you zoom off to?

Penguin needed help with the technical parts. Who helps you with the tricky parts of something you want to do?

What is something you want to try even though it seems impossible?
